According to Aaron Wilson, the Texans are prepared to carry QB Deshaun Watson on the 53-man roster this season. He won’t be playing, but will be a healthy scratch each week. He has a standing trade request and Houston has no desire to put him on the field as he faces numerous civil and potential criminal charges.
Last week, Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports reported the Miami Dolphins have emerged as the “frontrunner” in trade talks with the Texans for Watson.
Nothing seems imminent as the Texans reportedly want 5 total draft picks from the first and second round. They also reportedly have zero interest in Tua.
Watson is still facing 22 civil cases right now and it remains to be seen how all of this plays out. The National Football League has elected to not place him commissioner’s exempt list, but their investigation into the allegations against him is ongoing as well.
