Unlike his older brother Tua Tagovailoa of the Miami Dolphins, Taulia Tagovailoa is going to have a tough time trying to convince NFL teams that he is worthy of being selected in the 2024 NFL Draft.
The 2024 NFL Draft prospect lit up the collegiate ranks, finishing his career as the Big Ten’s all-time passing yards leader (11,256) after four years with Maryland. However, not many had Taulia Tagovailoa being selected this month.
Heading into his Pro Day, the biggest slight against him was having to overcome the bias against a quarterback of his stature as he is just 5-foot-10 and weighed 200 points at the East-West Shrine Bowl in February.
It turns out his height and weight were the least of his troubles on a day that should’ve showcased his talent.
A Pro Day is perfectly designed to have a player throw to wide receivers they’ve spent years playing with, making passes without even the threat of pressure coming their way.
Taulia Tagovailoa recently held his workout at Maryland’s Pro Day, and instead of impressing scouts as he should’ve, Tagovailoa struggled to make a positive impression as he displayed “little arm talent” with his deep passes proving to be the biggest problem, according to Tony Pauline of Sportskeeda.

Taulia Tagovailoa is only at this moment in his career after his waiver for an additional year of eligibility was denied back in January. That denial came on the heels of coach Nick Saban and Alabama writing a strong plea of support to the NCAA.
Tagovailoa had entered the transfer portal but has now been forced to enter his name into the NFL Draft. Tagovailoa played five seasons, including his freshman year at Alabama in 2019.
Taulia Tagovailoa Might Be A Third Day 2024 NFL Draft Pick
Taulia Tagovailoa does not possess the talent of his older brother and due to a number of other factors, he might not hear his name called at the NFL Draft for a few days.
Pro Football Network projected back in January that Tagovailoa grades out as a late Day 3 prospect.
Do you think Taulia Tagovailoa will ever be able to pull it all together and have a long and successful career in the NFL like his brother? We’d love to hear what you think about this situation in the comment section.
