Quarterbacks Carson Beck (Georgia), Quinn Ewers (Texas) and Shedeur Sanders (Colorado), Buffaloes two-way star Travis Hunter and Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham are among the early favorites to go first overall in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Unlike most previous years, there isn’t a clear-cut favorite to go first overall in the upcoming class. Carson Beck is the consensus top QB prospect, but he’s not considered a “sure thing” like former first-overall picks Andrew Luck, Joe Burrow, and Caleb Williams.
It’s also very possible that a team that ends up with the No. 1 selection will be a team already content with its QB situation. This could include the New England Patriots (Drake Maye), Denver Broncos (Bo Nix) Miami Dolphins (Tua Tagovailoa) and Jacksonville Jaguars (Trevor Lawrence).
According to the latest betting odds at DraftKings, Carson Beck is the favorite to go first overall in 2025 at +500. Hunter and Sanders share the second-best odds at +600, followed by Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe (+850) and Miami QB Cameron Ward (+900).
A quarterback has gone first overall in eight of the past 10 NFL drafts, with 2017 (defensive end Myles Garrett to the Cleveland Browns) and 2022 (edge rusher Travon Walker to the Jacksonville Jaguars) the only exceptions.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Beck has completed 65.8 percent of his pass attempts for 1,359 yards, 12 touchdowns and three interceptions. The Bulldogs, currently ranked No. 5 in the nation, host Mississippi State on Saturday.
Teams That Could Target Carson Beck
Quarterback-needy teams that could be in a position to draft Carson Beck first overall include the Las Vegas Raiders, New York Giants, New Orleans Saints, Carolina Panthers (if they move on from Bryce Young) and Cleveland Browns.
A lot can change between now and the 2025 NFL Draft. Again, there’s no overwhelming consensus to go first-overall. And Beck’s landing spot could very well depend on where the QB-needy teams finish in the standings.
