A Super Bowl-winning head coach could reportedly replace Pete Carroll following the latter’s stunning departure as the Seattle Seahawk’s HC.
The Seahawks announced on Wednesday that Carroll is done as their head coach and will move into an advisory role. The 72-year-old Carroll had stated after the regular season that he expected to remain head coach in 2024.
According to Mike Sando of The Athletic, Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy is another name to watch as a possible replacement for Carroll in Seattle. Sando noted that McCarthy has “strong ties” to the Seahawks front office.
It has been widely reported that Dallas could fire McCarthy if they fail to go on a deep postseason run. The Cowboys just clinched its third straight 12-win season, and they require only two home wins to reach the franchise’s first NFC Championship Game since 1995.
Seahawks GM John Schneider worked with McCarthy in Green Bay before coming over to Seattle in 2010. Schneider was an aide to the Packers GM from 2002 to 2007 before getting promoted to director of football operations, a position he held in 2008 to ’09 prior to his arrival in the Emerald City.

So if Dallas ends up firing the Super Bowl 45-winning head coach, it’s quite possible that McCarthy won’t be out of work for long.
