It’s quite clear who the public likes to win this year’s Super Bowl early on.
Immediately after the big game’s matchup was set between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, Vegas posted the spread at a pick ’em. And bettors wasted no time jumping all over the NFC representatives.
According to ESPN, within an hour of posting the original pick ’em line for Super Bowl LVII, the line at Vegas sportsbooks had moved to minus-2 in favor of the Eagles.
In that first hour of betting on the opening line, Caesars Sportsbook took 24 bets worth $10,000 or more on the spread or moneyline. And a whopping 21 of them were on Philly.
While it’s always risky to bet against Patrick Mahomes, there’s plenty of reasons for bettors to feel more confident about putting their money on Jalen Hurts and company. After all, the Eagles are by far the healthier, fresher team after cruising to blowout wins over the Giants and 49ers in both of their postseason contests.
As for the Chiefs, they’re dealing with injuries to numerous stars, including Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Mecole Hardman, Karadius Toney and L’Jarius Sneed. The good news for Kansas City is they have two weeks to get healthy. Will that help shift the spread back in their favor by the time the big game rolls around in two weeks? Or will the money continue to come in on the Eagles?
As for the point total for the game, it opened up at 48.5. There’s still plenty of time to get your bets in, as Super Bowl LVII is slated to take place on February 12 at State Farm Stadium in Arizona.
