This is just an awesome gesture by the Pittsburgh Steelers front office who desperately needed some good news coming from them.
Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier will remain under contract for another year as he continues to recover from the spinal injury he suffered back during the 2017 season.
Shazier is still hopeful that he’ll be able to play football again, but he’s definitely not ready at this moment which is why he’ll be placed on the Physically Unable To Perform List.
“We will continue to support Ryan’s efforts to return to play,” said General Manager Kevin Colbert. “Although he won’t be able to help us on the field in 2019, his leadership, insight, and emotional support have always been very valuable to us, and we look forward to his contributions in our pursuit of a championship.”
Shazier was taken in the 1st round of the 2014 NFL Draft and played four solid seasons before his catastrophic injury in 2017.
