We’re a couple of weeks into April and Baker Mayfield is still surprisingly with the Cleveland Browns.
The Cleveland Browns are ready to move on from former No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield. The only problem the team has run into is finding a team willing to part ways with draft picks or any other assets in order to obtain the young QB.
Not helping matters is his fully guaranteed $18.8 million contract making it hard for them to move on.
CBS Sports insider Jason La Canfora thinks the Browns could trade the former No. 1 pick this month.
“What’s long been clear is that Mayfield has no future with the Browns,” La Canfora wrote in a column Monday. “And I am detecting a sense that this situation could end up finding itself resolved in the coming weeks. Neither side wants this to linger deep into the offseason.”
La Canfora still believes the Seattle Seahawks “make the most sense.”
“The Seahawks are used to having a QB without ideal size, they don’t mind big personalities, Mayfield has been to the playoffs, and I don’t see Pete Carroll wanting a true re-boot under center,” he wrote.

If Mayfield is dealt before the start of the NFL Draft, it will have a ripple effect on what other teams will do. La Canfora believes the Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, and Detroit Lions will invest a top-10 pick on a quarterback, unless they acquire Mayfield sooner.
He also said the Pittsburgh Steelers, New Orleans Saints, New York Giants, and Washington Commanders “could end up addressing the position sooner rather than later in the draft.”
What’s long been clear is that Mayfield has no future with the Browns. He needs a much-needed change of scenery to resurrect his career and show people what he can do.
