Jadeveon Clowney defeinitely has some suitors are out there willing to bring him on, but not for the $20 million per season that he originally was seeking in free agency.
He has since come down off that number, but the pass rusher does not appear to be any closer to signing a new contract. ESPN 710 Seattle’s Dave Wyman told The Seattle Times’ Bob Condotta that the Seahawks, who he played with in 2019, offered Clowney “a take it or leave it type of deal” earlier in free agency.
“I think that might be an indication that they are not able to get him,” Wyman said of Seattle’s signing of Mayowa, adding that the Seahawks’ offer to Clowney is “a take it or leave it type of deal.” That’s in keeping with what has been the Seahawks’ stance in recent years of setting a value on a player and then not wavering from it.
Sports Illustrated’s Corbin Smith added more specifics to the report when he stated the deal was about $18.5 million annually.
Dave Wyman also told The Seatle Times that he believes the signing of Benson Mayowa indicates the Seahawks are “moving on” from Clowney.
“And former Seahawk Dave Wyman, also the analyst on the team’s radio broadcasts, said he thinks the signing of Mayowa is a sign that the team may be moving on from Clowney while noting that he doesn’t think the team is necessarily actively negotiating with Clowney, instead having given him an offer that he can either accept or not.”
The Seahawks, Browns, and Titans are three teams that have been named as potential suitors.

Clowney recorded 31 tackles, three sacks, an interception, two defensive touchdowns, four forced fumbles, two recoveries and three pass defenses during the 2019 season.
