The San Francisco 49ers reportedly think highly of Jimmy Garoppolo when it comes to trading him away, but not so much to keep him as their starting QB.
Mike Giardi of the NFL Network reported that the 49ers are asking for a first rounder in any potential trade.
The Patriots aren’t willing to meet the 49ers’ current asking price, Giardi mentioned in his report.
San Francisco traded its 2022 and 2023 first-round draft picks in order to move up from the No. 12 pick to the No. 3 pick, leaving the 49ers without a first-round pick until 2024 after this year’s draft.
49ers GM John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan both told reporters that they expect Garoppolo to be with the team for the 2021 season.
In 2020, Garoppolo appeared in six games for the 49ers and completed 67.1 percent of his passes for 1,096 yards, seven touchdowns, and five interceptions.
