The New Orleans Saints may have lost their starting quarterback, but they still have their eyes on a Super Bowl run. And earlier today, they attempted to make a key addition to help that run, although they would eventually come up empty-handed.
According to ESPN’s Kimberley Martin, the Saints were in serious talks with the Cleveland Browns to acquire disgruntled wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. Unfortunately, the two sides were unable to come to an agreement. And based on her statement, it sounds as though OBJ’s remaining salary played a significant part in that.
Kimberley also points out that, despite Beckham not wanting to be there, the team still believes he can play a big part in there second-half push for the post-season.
The Browns currently sit in last place in the AFC North with a 4-4 record. However, they’re still just one win back of the first-place Ravens, who sit at 5-2. As for OBJ, he’s had a rather forgettable year, registering just 17 catches for 232 yards and zero touchdowns in six games thus far this season, all while battling a painful shoulder injury.
