The New Orleans Saints have reportedly been fined $700,000 for violating COVID-19 protocol in 2020, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, and will also be forced to forfeit their sixth-round selection in the 2022 NFL Draft.
“Per the league: The New Orleans Saints will forfeit their sixth-round selection in the 2022 NFL Draft and will be fined $700,000 for violations of the NFL-NFLPA COVID protocols during the 2020 season,” Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football tweeted.
All-Pro running back Alvin Kamara reportedly refused to wear a contact tracing device the NFL required for players and coaches during the 2020 season, which was the main reason the franchise was facing discipline from the league.
Per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero and Rapoport, the Saints violated COVID-19 protocols on three separate occasions during the 2020 campaign.
It’s unknown at this moment if the Saints will fight this punishment.
