Russell Wilson reportedly had interest in signing with two of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ longtime AFC rivals if he didn’t end up in Steel City.
Late last night, news broke that Wilson had decided to join the Steelers on a one-year deal following a meeting with the AFC North club. Wilson later confirmed on X/Twitter that he was headed to Pittsburgh.
According to a report from The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, Wilson “was open to” signing with the Las Vegas Raiders and New England Patriots if either club “were interested” in him..

Last week, the Denver Broncos announced that they were releasing Wilson after a disappointing two-year tenure in Mile High City. The release of the nine-time Pro Bowler means that Denver is on the hook for $85 million in dead money (an NFL record) over the next two years.

Wilson will now get to compete with inconsistent starting Kenny Pickett for the QB1 role. For his career, Wilson has 43,653 passing yards, 334 touchdowns and 106 interceptions to go along with 5,307 rushing yards and 29 rushing scores.
