Just a few hours after Aaron Rodgers and the Packers agreed to a mega extension to keep the MVP in Green Bay, the Seattle Seahawks agreed to a trade to send Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos.
Him being traded to the Broncos effectively ends all speculation for any other team that was supposedly involved.
Just last week, Howie Roseman and Nick Sirianni doubled down on their support for Jalen Hurts as the Eagles’ starter in 2022, but the team was definitely all in on trying to get Russell Wilson.
They were hardly the only NFC East team to try their hand in grabbing Wilson, as the Washington Commanders had a huge package sen to the Seahawksd to try and get the veteran QB.
Unfortunately for both NFC East teams, the feeling was not mutual as Wilson refused to waive his no-trade clause for both clubs.

In the end, the Broncos were the only team Wilson was interested in going to, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
“My understanding was this was the only team Russell Wilson wanted to go to,” Rapoport said Tuesday on NFL Total Access. “A couple teams had talked to Seattle about trading for Russell Wilson. Washington Commanders were among the teams that made an offer. It was a big offer, as good or even better than this. Russell Wilson wanted to go to the Denver Broncos. It’s a place he likes, it’s near his family, it’s on the West Coast and they have a roster that is essentially stacked at receiver, on defense, at running back. All they needed was a quarterback, and they got one.”
Not to mention, the Seahawks might rebuild pretty fast and certainly do not want to play Wilson in the playoffs.
And so Hurts appears to be the guy for this upcoming Eagles season while the Washington Commanders will likely be going with Taylor Heinicke.
