More news has surfaced in the crazy case involving Richard Sherman and his in-laws.
Things got so crazy that Sherman’s father-in-law, Raymond Moss, was said to have had a gun in his possession and was forced to pepper spray the free agent cornerback, according to the police report.
Moss informed investigators that the NFL star partially broke in the door by repeatedly hitting it with his shoulder. Moss said that Sherman called out, “Come through, Ray!” in a threatening tone of voice.
“The family began to yell in fear,” Moss told police officers. “I used pepper spray on Sherman’s face through the partially opened door as he was still banging and attempting to gain entry. I told him to stop. I armed myself with my handgun at this time fearing for the safety of myself and my family.”
Sherman was released from jail without bail on Thursday. However, King County District Court Judge Fa’amomoi Masaniai found probable cause that Sherman committed criminal trespassing, malicious mischief, driving under the influence and resisting arrest.

Sherman is not allowed to have contact with his father-in-law and he cannot use alcohol or nonprescription drugs, the judge ordered.
“I love and support my husband,” Sherman’s wife, Ashley Sherman, said in a statement following the hearing. “I am committed to helping Richard get the support and care that he needs. Richard has always been a loving father and husband. And we are looking forward to seeing him at home with his family.”
The 33-year-old free agent spent seven seasons with the Seattle Seahawks before playing three seasons with the San Francisco 49ers.
