Head coach Josh McDaniels and Las Vegas Raiders now reportedly have hired several ex-New England Patriots assistants.
It feels like Patriots head coach Bill Belichick wasn’t going to be too fond of those departures, and he’ll likely be more peeved at the fact it was McDaniels who poached the three from Belichick’s staff to join his.
However, that does not seem to be the case.
ESPN’s Mike Reiss has reported that there’s no bad blood between the two coaches.
“McDaniels has three of his former assistants on staff with him in Las Vegas: Mick Lombardi (offensive coordinator), Carmen Bricillo (offensive line), and Bo Hardegree (quarterbacks), and I’m told there’s no “bad blood” between him and Belichick on that front,” Reiss wrote.
McDaniels, 45, worked the past 10 seasons as New England’s offensive coordinator before being hired by Las Vegas on Jan. 31.
The future Hall of Famer spoke with great pride in McDaniels in a press conference back on Nov. 12. before New England faced the Cleveland Browns.

“I think Josh does a great job, really, in every area,” Belichick said. “I don’t think he really has any weaknesses as a coach. He understands what every player on the field’s doing on offense and defense. He has a great vision for how to utilize the skills of the players on his side of the ball and how to try to attack the weaknesses whether it be personnel weaknesses, or schematic weaknesses, or how to try to force the opponent into a situation that he’s able to take advantage of.”
