Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis is reportedly hoping to land “a star” as the next head coach of his long-struggling organization.
Davis fired Josh McDaniels and Dave Ziegler after a 3-5 start. The team went 5-4 under interim HC Antonio Pierce and finished 8-9 on the year, a considerable improvement from the 2022 team that went a disappointing 6-11.
Speaking on “The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz”, NFL insider Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports that Davis would like “a star” to be his next coach.
“Mark Davis wants a star in Vegas,” Russini said. “They are definitely doing their homework on some of these available coaches, one of them being Jim Harbaugh.”
Harbaugh led the Michigan Wolverines to a perfect season and a national championship victory over the Washington Huskies on Monday. Harbaugh’s name pops up every year in the NFL head coaching cycle, so it remains to be seen if the 60-year-old is actually keen on coming back to the pros.
Another notable name who falls under the “star” category? New England Patriots head coach and six-time Super Bowl champion Bill Belichick. Many expect owner Robert Kraft to move on from Belichick after a dismal 4-13 season.

Including interims, there have been eight head coaches under Mark since he inherited the team from his late father, Al, in the midst of the 2011 season. Coaching stability has not been the Raiders’ forte, so it’s no wonder that Davis is reportedly eyeing a big name…again.
