The 2018 season was widely regarded as the final season the Raiders would play in front of the loyal fans in Oakland, especially after Oakland City Attorney Barbara J. Parker announced the city was filing a federal antitrust and breach of contract lawsuit against the Raiders and the NFL.
That all changed when the Raiders attempt to play at Oracle Park were killed off when the 49ers were not expected to waive their territorial rights for San Francisco.
Because of that decision, the team might not only play another season at Oakland Coliseum, but they might play there another season as well, according to Phil Matier of the San Francisco Chronicle, who stated the Raiders and Oakland are close to a deal that would keep the team at the Coliseum for 2019, and possibly for 2020.
“All of the major issues . . . have been resolved,” an unnamed source told Matier.
The Raiders would be on tap to pay $7.5 million in 2019, with an option to stay in 2020 at $10.5 million if their stadium in Las Vegas is not quite ready to go.
