A former NFL Coach of the Year may be on the hot seat entering the 2024 season, according to a report.
Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports that some around the NFL think New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll could be on the hot seat after a disappointing 6-11 season. Daboll has three years remaining on his deal with Big Blue:
“(GM Joe) Schoen emphasized that the Giants are in the midst of a build that will take time, but the sense around the league is that this is a pivotal year for this regime.
Daboll’s overhaul of half of his staff amid strained relationships has league sources viewing him as being under real pressure to get things turned around next season.”
Daboll won NFL Coach of the Year honors in 2022 after leading the Giants to a surprise 9-7-1 finish that was enough to sneak into the postseason. New York upset the 13-win Minnesota Vikings in the Wild Card Round before falling to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Divisional Round.
Ben McAdoo (2016 to 2017), Pat Shurmur (2018 to 2019) and Joe Judge (2020 to 2021) all got just two years as head coaches of the Giants before getting fired. So it wouldn’t be the least bit stunning if ownership decides to pull the plug on the Daboll project if the G-Men endured another losing season in 2024.
