One of the officers involved in the detainment of Tyreek Hill was handed a stiff punishment on the same day the Miami Dolphins wide receiver was forced to the ground and placed in handcuffs in a shocking encounter with law enforcement.
According to department director Stephanie V. Daniels, the officer, who is attached to the Miami-Dade Police Department, has been placed on administrative leave.
“Following the incident involving Tyreek Hill, I have initiated an Internal Affairs investigation to ensure a thorough review of the matter,” Daniels said in a statement, per NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero. “One of the officers involved in the incident has been placed on administrative duties while the investigation is conducted.
“I’m committed to transparency and accountability to the community with any situation involving my officers.”
The wide receiver was the talk of the football world on Sunday morning after he was seen getting apprehended by several police officers just a block away from Hard Rock Stadium ahead of the Fins’ Week 1 opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Tyreek Hill Came Up Big For Miami After His Arrest
Tyreek Hill’s agent was on the scene at the time of the arrest and told ESPN’s Jeff Darlington he was “deeply concerned” and that the WR was “distraught” in the wake of the incident.
“Apparently, he got a ticket for a moving violation entering the stadium,” the agent said. “How things escalated into the situation they were in — in handcuffs and being held on the ground with police — is mind-boggling to me. I’m deeply concerned by that, very troubled. We will be looking into it. We will be investigating this.”
Hill played on Sunday and, despite a slow start, helped the Dolphins to a 20-17 victory over Jacksonville, making seven catches for 130 yards and one touchdown, the latter to the tune of 80 yards.
He celebrated with an iconic handcuff gesture that will be talked about for a while.
