The Philadelphia Eagles might not be permitted to wear their green home jerseys when they play the Green Bay Packers in the NFL’s 2024 season opener.
The two teams are set to headline the league’s first-ever regular-season affair in South America. They will square off at Sao Paulo Corinthians Arena, where the Corinthians soccer team plays home games.
The Eagles, who were announced as the home team several weeks before their opponents were revealed, could have a problem as they might be banned from wearing home colors.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, Corinthians have an informal ban on the color green as their fierce rivals, Palmeiras, wear it. Players and fans are forbidden from wearing the color, and one of their own players was fined for wearing green cleats in 2021.
Fans have seen sighs in the arena stating green is “expressly forbidden,” which means the Eagles might not be allowed to take to the field in their home unis and would likely have to wear white.

Sao Paolo mayor Ricardo Nunes jokingly asked, “What color is the teams’ shirts?” when the game was announced during a press conference.
Jo, the striker who was fined for his green cleats, had to apologize to fans for his actions.
“I would never use green boots because of my history with Corinthians, a club I have loved since I was little,” he said. “I would never disrespect Corinthians, much less the fans. I have always honored this shirt, and I always will honor it.”
