Deshaun Watson’s time with the Houston Texans could be ticking away at a faster rate now that the NFL Draft is over and things have gone quiet about his mounting lawsuits. Before his legal trouble, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that there’s a “growing sense” Watson has played his final game in Houston.
The 49ers were near the top of the list of teams who would want Watson, but then they went and traded up in the draft and have since drafted Trey Lance.
Football Morning in America author Peter King this week said the Philadelphia Eagles are still very much intrigued by Watson. King’s “gut feeling” has the Philadelphia Eagles as the safest bet right now.
The Eagles also appear to be on his preferred destination as well.
“You can hear a pin drop on Deshaun Watson … All eyes on the civil court system in Texas,” Eisen said this week on the Rich Eisen Show. “Is Deshaun Watson settling his cases right now? At the draft, that’s all I heard, that was in the works. That’s why Peter King has a whole bunch of teams that are lined up for Deshaun Watson should he be a viable quarterback in the NFL in 2022.

“I don’t think it’s going to be 2022, how do you like that? I think it’s 2021. I think it’s quiet for a reason. You don’t hear a word for a lawyer who was on Instagram like he was a 16-year-old sophomore. On Instagram, every single thing was going on there. You don’t hear a word from him right now, do you? Anyone who knows the legal system knows that something is being discussed and he doesn’t want to (spoil) it.”
Watson had reportedly once told associates that he would like to play for the New York Jets, but the team has since put all of their eggs into Zach Wilson after selecting him in the 2021 draft.
