The Jimmy Garoppolo to New England rumors are continuing to get louder as the NFL Draft draws closer.
According to NESN’s Dale Arnold, the Patriots are trying to hammer out a new contract for Garoppolo to swing a deal with the 49ers.
“What I’ve been told, by a reliable source — @Patriots are working on a new contract for Jimmy G that could lead to a deal with @49ers,” Arnold tweeted. “Same source who correctly told me Tom Brady had signed with @Buccaneers. Doesn’t mean it will get done, but they’re working on it.”
However, Jeff Howe stated nothing was happening between the Pats and Jimmy G.
Jimmy Garoppolo still has two years left on his deal. He’s on the books for $26.4 million this season and $27 million in 2022.

“It won’t surprise me if the Niners make Jimmy Garoppolo more available than he’s been. In other words, instead of trying to get a first-round pick for him, maybe considering taking a two for him. I wonder if the Patriots would deal the 46th pick in the draft, or their second-rounder in 2022, for their old friend,” Peter King wrote on Sunday.
Unless something changes, the Patriots have the No. 15 overall pick in Thursday night’s NFL Draft.
