Word coming from New England Patriots camp has been “distressing” news about the offense. Patriots insider Tom Curran called the Patriots’ No. 1 offense “distressingly bad” and pointed to difficulties ranging from run stuffs to failed plays contributing to a bad day of practice.
The last words he used to describe the offense were “perpetually overwhelmed.”
The biggest loss for the Patriots this offseason were several of their top offensive assistants who left to join the Las Vegas Raiders when Josh McDaniels left to become their head coach.

Bill Belichick has left positions either unfilled or has multiple roles filled by the same person. Things don’t seem to be working out and year 2 under Mac Jones might be a tough one as a result.
Patricia was a senior adviser for the Patriots in 2021 after serving as the Detroit Lions coach from 2018 to 2020. Before that, he was New England’s defensive coordinator and play-caller from 2012 to 2017.
Mac Jones was the headliner of the 2021 draft class for the Patriots. His 3,801 passing yards, 23 passing touchdowns, and 92.5 passer rating were all the best among the five rookie quarterbacks selected in the first round of that year’s draft. Jones also led the Patriots to a 10-7 record and the playoffs in the process, earning him a Pro Bowl nod.
