Tony Pauline of Pro Football Network reported on Thursday from the NFL combine that the New England Patriots are showing interest in Tennessee Titans soon-to-be free agent quarterback Marcus Mariota.
Pauline also added there were several other teams courting Mariota, including the Indianapolis Colts.
“Keep this in the back of your mind – with all the uncertainty surrounding Tom Brady, the New England Patriots are showing interest in soon to be free agent quarterback Marcus Mariota. The former first-round pick is being courted by several teams who may have an open competition at quarterback. I’m told the Indianapolis Colts have also shown interest in Mariota – just in case.”
Mariota showed promise early on his career, but would be forced out of his job by bad play that ultimately led to him being benched in favor of Ryan Tannehill.
The 26-year-old former No. 2 overall pick of the Titans back in 2015 played in only seven games in 2019 and racked up 1,203 yards, seven touchdowns and two interceptions.
