The possibility of Carli Lloyd kicking in an NFL game looks more possible as the days go on. The USWNT impressed a team so much with her kicking ability, that she reportedly received an invitation from an NFL team.
According to FOX Sports’ Martin Rogers, one franchise called Lloyd’s longtime trainer James Galanis on Monday and offered Lloyd the chance to kick in a preseason game this Thursday.
Unfortunately, the games on Thursday coincides with a United States women’s national team game against Portugal.
All of this interest stems from LLoyd nailing a nailing a 55-yard field goal during a visit to a Philadelphia Eagles training camp practice just last week.
Via Fox Sports:
“Today, she got another call from another NFL team,” Galanis told me in a telephone conversation on Monday. “The one that called today, I don’t want to say who it is, was willing to put her on the roster for their next (game). They were willing to put her on the roster.”
Galanis continued: “She was told (she could) play on Thursday, the NFL game, but she is playing Thursday with the national team, so that was the conflict.”

Lloyd told NBC Sports’ Peter King that she could handle the pressure that comes with placekicking in the NFL.
“The mindset I have, I think with practice, I know I have to work on my steps and my technique, but I think I could do it and do it well,” she said. “It could be a huge pivotal moment. There is no reason why a woman could not do this. And I actually invite the pressure. I love the pressure.”
