The Cleveland Browns may soon have clarity with regard to Deshaun Watson’s status for the 2022 season. Watson’s NFL disciplinary hearing is slated to begin on Tuesday, according to ESPN.
On saturday, the Wall Street Journal dropped a bombshell of a report when they stated that the league might look to suspend Watson for up to a year.
Florio added, “The league wants to keep the suspension open-ended in the event that other cases are filed against Watson in the coming weeks and months.”
Via Wall street journal:
“The NFL is pushing for an indefinite suspension that would last no shorter than one year for Watson, people familiar with the matter said. That would mean he would be out for one season, at least, before he could apply to be reinstated.”

NFL and NFLPA’s jointly appointed disciplinary officer Sue L. Robinson will conduct the hearing on Watson.
Watson had previously faced 24 civil lawsuits that accused him of sexual misconduct during massage sessions during his time with the Houston Texans. Watson has settled on 20 of those suits. Watson, who has denied any wrongdoing, was not indicted on criminal charges by two Texas grand juries earlier this offseason.
The Browns signed Watson to a five-year, fully guaranteed $230 million deal after his acquisition.
If suspended, the league would likely determine that Watson violated the league’s code of conduct policy.
