Could we soon see a game played on Labor Day in the National Football League?
The NFL is starting to have a game on every single day of the week, as well as holidays, and it looks like another one is sure to happen, with the schedule likely to go to 18 games in the future.
A new report states that the league could start the season on Labor Day weekend, which means games on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. That would then lead us to Thursday Night Football that same week.
That is five straight days of NFL action.
It is no secret that the NFL has long considered growing the season to 18 games as soon as they went to 18.
A seventeenth regular season game was added in 2021, and since 2002, the league has long scheduled a nationally televised kickoff game on the Thursday night after Labor Day.

Now, the league is angling for that 18th game as well as games starting on a major holiday.
Roger Goodell Addresses Potential 18-Game Schedule Amid Labor Day Weekend Rumors
According to Pro Football talk, the NFL could move to an 18-game schedule, which could reportedly lead to a return for Labor Day weekend games.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell stated earlier this year he would support extending the NFL season to 18 games and reducing preseason games in the future.
The preseason has already been shortened to three games instead of four.
In April, Goodell told Pat McAfee he’d “rather replace a preseason game with a regular season game any day.”
The following month, Goodell added that extending the season to 18 games wasn’t anything they were “actively thinking about.”
“Again, moving to quality and making sure we’re doing everything possible to give the fans what they want,” he said, via Fox Sports.
“And they want, obviously, more football. I’m not sure they want more preseason football.”
Pro Football Talk claims the move to 18 games, as well as Labor Day games, is “inevitable.”
