It’s been two weeks since the New England Patriots openly admitted to violating the NFL’s policy against videotaping from the press box. but yet, no new information has come out that leads you to believe the franchise will be facing any penalties from it.
Why is taking so long? According to Pro Football Talk, the NFL is working to see if there’s any connection between the videographers that were caught in the Cleveland Browns press box and the Patriots’ football operations.
They apparently cannot find anything.
Via CBS Boston:
“NFL investigators spent time over the last few days interviewing members of the Patriots, according to a report Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio. That included collecting devices from certain individuals, which Florio reports is to see if they can connect the scandal to the New England football ops. department.
“As one source explained it, there’s a sense that investigators want to make that connection, and a perception that they are showing frustration when unable to tie the video crew to the football employees,” Florio reported.”
Dave Mondillo, the videographer, has since been suspended by the team.
ESPN.com’s Mike Reiss reported the Patriots could receive their punishment “as early as this week.”
