With all the hoopla surrounding the cheating of the Houston Astros in Major League Baseball, most have pretty much forgotten about the incident of the New England Patriots’ videotaping scandal where an employee was caught recording the sidelines of the Cincinnati Bengals sideline during Week 14 of the NFL season in December.
Fast forward to February and the league is now concluding its investigation into that matter, according to the The Boston Globe.
The Patriots have admitted to wrongdoing and subsequently suspended the videographer involved in the scandal. David Mondillo, who is a supervising producer for Kraft Sports and Entertainment, released a statement on the Pats’ filming of the Bengals sideline.
Here’s what The Globe reported on the latest with the league:
“Last week, NFL Security completed what was believed to be the final interview with a Patriots employee. Now the security officials must write up their report, then hand it up the chain of command, where it will eventually land on the desk of commissioner Roger Goodell, who will approve of a final course of action.
There is still no precise timetable for a release of the findings, but it is drawing close. The NFL declined to comment on the investigation.”
Jay Glazer of Fox Sports released footage of the Patriots filming the Bengals and the confrontation that ensued between Bengals security and the videographer:

A staffer could be heard saying “I don’t see the advanced scout in any of this video they’re shooting,” and a member of the Bengals security saying, “the damage is done, my friend.”
The Patriots previously claimed their filming was for the NFL’s Do Your Job video series showing behind-the-scenes footage of different members of the organization:
The franchise could be facing fines and possible loss of draft picks once the NFL’s investigation is over with.
