The NFL Draft is a time of year when many young football player’s lives are changed forever. This year’s NFL Draft will be no exception when it takes place in Detroit, Michigan, on April 25th.
A particular defensive prospect who played his college ball with the University of Texas Longhorns may be witnessing his draft stock fall as we inch closer to draft day.
Longhorns star defensive lineman T’Vondre Sweat has been making highly disappointing choices lately. The 22-year-old defensive college star was arrested earlier this month after reports that he was suspected of a DWI.
Also, some NFL Draft analysts have Sweat ranked as a mid-round prospect, meaning he could go as late as the 5th round. The defensive tackle was called a “party animal” and a “class clown” by Dane Brugler.

T’Vondre Sweat Could Be a Star If He Is Drafted Into The Right System
Sweat is the latest of many draft prospects to fall in the draft rankings due to off-field performance. However, he is down but not out, and he could prove that the NFL scouts are wrong with a strong rookie season in the NFL.
Sweat helped the Longhorns’ defense, which allowed just under 20 points a game, and was the number one team in preventing 3rd down conversions in the 2023 NCAA season. The hawking 6-foot-4, 362-pound defender could be an asset to a defense-needy team.

A team that may be suitable for the pass rusher may be the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons allowed over 2000 yards on the ground last season, and their leading sack-getters were Bud Dupree and Calais Campbell, both aging, 30-plus-year-old defenders.
Only time will tell where T’Vondre Sweat plays, but the tackle may not be off the board until round 4. To find out where he ends up, keep your eyes peeled for the Longhorn’s name to be called in Detroit.
