The Kansas City Chiefs opened as slight favorites to beat the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV, but if you ask coaches and executives around the league, they think it will be a lot bigger than that.
Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report spoke with three assistant coaches and two front office executives, with all of them stating they expect the Kansas City Chiefs to win big.
“In asking a handful of people around the league who they believe will win Super Bowl LIV, what has surprised me—actually stunned me—is how many are confident the Chiefs will blow out the 49ers.
Three assistant coaches and two front office executives with whom B/R spoke all picked the Chiefs, big, and I don’t think this belief is isolated.”
Here’s what one NFC assistant coach had to say:
“There is no defense against Mahomes right now.”
Freeman added that “Not even the 49ers,” can stop Mahomes, per the the coaches and team execs: “To them, no player—at any position—is playing better than Mahomes.”
To be fair, just take a look at what the Chiefs did to the Houston Texans after they got down 24-0 in the first half and somehow took a 28-24 lead into halftime. They would go on to win the game 51-31, then defeat the Tennessee Titans to advance to the Super Bowl for the first time since 1969.
