An intriguing NFC team could reportedly have interest in Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson, should he hit the open market in the new league year.
Many expect the Broncos to cut Wilson and start over at quarterback this offseason. Then nine-time Pro Bowler was benched for the final two regular season games of 2023 because of his refusal to adjust the injury guarantees in his contract.
The Broncos would have owed Wilson $37 million in guaranteed money for 2025 if he suffered an injury. He was benched in favor of backup Jarrett Stidham, who went 1-1 in his two starts to close out the year:
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Minnesota Vikings could be a landing spot for the future Hall of Famer, in the event that they don’t end up retaining Kirk Cousins:
“Don’t be surprised if Wilson, should he become a free agent, is intrigued by Minnesota, assuming Kirk Cousins doesn’t re-sign with the Vikings (a big question). Kevin O’Connell comes from the Sean McVay passing tree that maximizes quarterback efficiency. Wilson would have plenty of weapons in a group that includes Justin Jefferson, T.J. Hockenson and Jordan Addison.”
The soon-to-be 36-year-old Cousins is in the final season of his contract, and it remains to be seen if the Vikings will retain the four-time Pro Bowler or let him walk to free agency. Cousins was putting together another stellar year before unfortunately suffering a torn Achilles that ended his season in Week 8 against the Green Bay Packers.

Despite what looks to be an awkward pending divorce, Wilson had a strong bounce-back year for the Broncos in 2023. He completed 66.4 percent of his pass attempts for 3,070 yards and 26 touchdowns against only eight interceptions.
