The New York Giants own the No. 5 and No. 7 overall picks in the 2022 NFL Draft, but that might be changing fairly soon. According to recent reports, the Giants organization is open to swapping one of these top-10 picks for a first-round pick in 2023.
“According to multiple NFL sources, the Giants have signaled they are open to trading either the 5th or 7th overall pick in this years draft for a package that includes a first-rounder in 2023,” Giants insider Ralph Vacchiano said.
Vacchiano mentions that the more teams in the market for one of this year’s quarterback prospects, the better the odds of the Giants finding a trade partner in round one. One or more teams just might want Pittsburgh’s Kenny Pickett and Liberty’s Malik Willis so much that they would make a deal.
Teams like the Seahawks (No. 9), Commanders (No. 11), Texans (No. 13), Saints (No. 18), and the Steelers (No. 20) might be in the market to move up in the 2022 Draft.
As of now, the Giants have around $3 million to work with and their current picks would cost them $12.5 million in salary-cap space this year.
If the Giants can trade No. 7 overall for future picks, they could clear as much as $5 million.
