The New York Giants are seemingly not interested in winning anything in 2019.
It’s widely been assumed the Giants will draft Eli Manning’s successor with the No. 6 overall pick , but it does not like look like the team will consider taking Dwayne Haskins with that top pick. The franchise is said to not be interested in the former Ohio State Buckeyes QB, who’s one of this year’s top quarterback prospects coming into 2019.
“About a week after the Combine, I circled back with some people like, ‘What are you thinking Haskins? Do you guys like him? Do you think you are going for it with your No. 6 pick?'” ESPN’s Diana Russini said on the Breaking Big Blue podcast. “It was, ‘No, actually. We are not doing a lot of work on him.’
“I spoke to a few people. I’ll paraphrase one: ‘He doesn’t fit with us.’ The idea that they are not going go after a quarterback with the No. 6 pick solidifies they are not giving up on Eli (Manning).”
The Giants have already retained Eli as their starting QB for 2019, so whomever comes in will definitely be in a learning role behind the future hall of famer.
Aside from Haskins — Kyler Murray, Drew Lock, and Daniel Jones also lead the quarterback class for 2019.
“I think we should be pretty confident they are going to go defense with that (No. 6) pick,” Russini said. “I think they are going to draft a quarterback. I just don’t think it’s going to be Haskins.”
