Bill Belichick joining the Atlanta Falcons doesn’t appear to be a done deal just yet.
The Falcons completed their second interview with the legendary head coach over the weekend, and they’re widely regarded as the heavy favorites to land the 71-year-old. But according to a new report from Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, multiple unnamed teams are still in the mix on the six-time Super Bowl-winning head coach.
And interestingly, one of those teams already has a head coach employed:
“Per a league source with knowledge of the situation, multiple teams are quietly considering a potential run at Belichick. At least one currently has a head-coaching vacancy. At least one currently does not.
Many in league circles believe Belichick is the frontrunner for the Falcons job. The Falcons regard the situation otherwise. As they continue to conduct interviews, they have no frontrunner, yet.”
The Carolina Panthers, Los Angeles Chargers, Seattle Seahawks, Tennessee Titans and Washington Commanders also have head coaching vacancies. The Las Vegas Raiders and New England Patriots filled their head coaching positions by hiring Antonio Pierce (previously the interim HC) and Jerod Mayo (previously the inside linebackers coach), respectively.

Teams traditionally try to get their new head coaches hired by the end of January so they can quickly work together in game-planning the offseason, so teams other than Atlanta hoping to land Belichick might want to secure those interviews soon.
