When it comes to Deshaun Watson, we have heard about the usual teams that constantly get mentioned when it comes to him possibly being traded. But we just received a new team this week that could be in the mix.
Baker Mayfield could be done as the Cleveland Browns quarterback, doomed to be traded or released by 2023. Cleveland’s front office probably has a plan, and it may or may not include Mayfield for the long haul.
One insider suggests that the Browns could “be a player” for Watson in the upcoming offseason. Appearing on Bull and Fox in Cleveland, NFL insider Albert Breer said that he expects the franchise to be in play.
“I’d expect [the Browns] to be a player. Are they going to be willing to go the distance? I don’t know that, but I absolutely believe the Browns are going to be a player for Deshaun Watson if/when he becomes available. Let’s call this an educated guess,” Breer said.
It’s not a deal that the Browns can just do without Watson’s consent, as he would have to waive his no-trade clause to make it happen.
The Browns are just 7-7 this year after a promising playoff run last year that saw them defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Wild Card round and come within a touchdown in defeating the Kansas City Chiefs in the divisional round.
