With the New England Patriots’ miserable 2023 season over, the entire focus in Foxborough is now on the future of head coach Bill Belichick.
Many expect Patriots owner Robert Kraft to part ways with Belichick following the organization’s third losing season in four years, as well as their fifth straight campaign without a postseason victory.
If that happens, Belichick will immediately become the marquee name available in the 2024 NFL head coaching cycle.
According to the latest betting odds at BetOnline, Belichick is the favorite to become the Atlanta Falcons’ new head coach at +300. The NFC South club fired head coach Arthur Smith following a third straight 7-10 season.
No team on BetOnline has higher odds of landing Belichick than the Falcons. The Los Angeles Chargers (+800), Washington Commanders (+900) and Carolina Panthers (+700) were all listed at longshots, with the Tennessee Titans (+400) carrying the second-best odds of landing the futue Hall of Famer.
Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson has the second-best odds to become Atlanta’s next head coach at +400, followed by Commanders offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy at +500.

The Patriots finished 4-13 in 2023, marking the franchise’s worst record since the 1992 group that went 2-14. In the Tom Brady era (2001 to 2019), the Patriots finished above .500 every year and only missed the postseason twice (2002 and 2008). In the latter, Brady missed all but a few minutes with a torn ACL.
Belichick has failed to sustain the Patriots’ winning culture without Brady, and we’ll soon find out if it’s about to cost the 71-year-old his job in New England.
