A new favorite to win the 2024 NFL MVP award has emerged following Week 3, and it’s not Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Mahomes has been a front-runner for NFL MVP honors since his magical 2018 season when he first won the award. But he’s got some work to do, with another signal-caller emerging as the new odds-on favorite.
According to the DraftKings sportsbook, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is now the giant favorite to win MVP at +200, with Mahomes behind him at +300. Allen is coming off a near-perfect performance on Monday night, leading the Bills to a 47-10 blowout win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Houston Texans QB CJ Stroud is a distant third at +1100, followed by Baltimore Ravens signal-caller Lamar Jackson (+1500). New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, a four-time NFL MVP, and Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts share the fifth-best odds at +1700.
Allen completed 23 of 30 pass attempts for 263 yards, four touchdowns, no interceptions and a team-high 44 rushing yards on Monday night. Through his first three games, the 28-year-old has 634 passing yards, seven touchdowns, zero picks and two rushing scores.

Pro Football Hall of Famer and legendary Bills RB Thurman Thomas is the last Buffalo player to win NFL MVP honors, having done so in 1991. That year, he rushed for 1,407 yards and seven touchdowns and tallied a league-leading 2,038 yards from scrimmage.
Allen will get another chance to strengthen his case as the MVP front-runner when his Bills visit reigning MVP Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens on “Sunday Night Football”.
It’s Early, But This Is Josh Allen’s NFL MVP Award To Lose
If the season ended now, Allen would run away with the MVP honors. But there are still 14 games to be played, and a lot can change between now and Week 18.
The MVP award usually goes to the quarterback who puts up the best stats, as long as his team reaches the postseason. A QB has won the award every year since 2013.
