A new favorite has emerged to go second overall to the Washington Commanders in next month’s 2024 NFL Draft.
Barring any major surprises, the Chicago Bears will use the first overall pick in this year’s draft on USC quarterback Caleb Williams. The main question is if Washington will use the No. 2 pick on LSU’s Jayden Daniels or North Carolina’s Drake Maye.
The DraftKings sportsbook now lists Daniels, the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner, as the clear-cut favorite to go second overall behind Williams at -145. Maye’s odds have now dropped to +125, with Ohio State WR Marvin Harrison Jr. carrying the third-best odds at +1000.
As noted by Kyle Odegard, Maye had held the highest odds of going No. 2 for several months. But ahead of the official league new year, LSU’s dual-threat star quarterback has replaced Maye as the odds-on favorite to go right after Williams.

Most scouts and analysts viewed Maye as the second-best QB prospect behind Williams. But Daniels’ stock has skyrocketed in recent weeks, while Maye’s has fallen considerably during the period.
In his final season at LSU, Daniels completed 72.2 percent of his pass attempts for 3,812 yards and 40 touchdowns against only four interceptions to go along with 1,134 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns.
Maye completed 63.3 percent of pass attempts for 3,608 yards and 24 touchdowns against nine interceptions last season. It was a considerable decline from his 2022 season, in which Maye threw for 4,321 yards and 38 touchdowns.
