NBC’s Sunday Night Football will have a new, but familiar voice next season. Mike Tirico will officially take over as play-by-play announcer for the network’s primetime showcase.
Tirico will join long-time Sunday Night Football analyst Cris Collinsworth in the booth. Collinsworth will remain the color commentator for NBC.
NBC officially announced that its 2022 crew will consist of Mike Tirico, Cris Collinsworth, and Melissa Stark.
Stark was recently announced as the replacement for Michele Tafoya, who decided to change career paths and head into politics.
“When Mike joined NBC Sports in 2016, it was our plan for him to become our primetime Olympics host and the play-by-play voice of Sunday Night Football,” NBC Sports chairman Pete Bevacqua said in a statement. “We are excited to have Mike join Cris Collinsworth full-time in the booth this season.”
Back in March, ESPN lured Joe Buck and Troy Aikman to Monday Night Football. Legendary play-by-play man Al Michaels, the longtime voice of NBC’s Sunday Night Football, moved to Amazon.
