Carson Wentz’s time with the Philadelphia Eagles appears to be over, but it should make him feel quite better that many teams would love to have him.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, there have been multiple teams that have been blowing up the phone for the Eagles about the availability of Carson Wentz. Per the report, no offers have been made as of yet.
Rapoport noted that the Eagles are “not in a hurry to trade Wentz.” The team still expects him to return for the 2021 season after the team fired Doug Pederson and hired new head coach Nick Sirianni.
Late in the 2020 season after he had been benched in favor of Jalen Hurts — Wentz reportedly informed the front office that he wanted a trade if the team was moving forward with having Hurts as the starter. Trading him is easier said than done as Wentz is due a $10 million roster bonus in March as part of the four-year, $128 million contract extension he signed in 2019.
In 2020, Wentz threw for 2,620 yards and 16 touchdowns.
You have to believe that if the right deal comes along, the team will pull the trigger and end the marriage.
