Deshaun Watson is once again going viral this week, but it has more to do with him possibly changing teams, rather than his off-the-field legal issues.
The Dolphins are reportedly the frontrunner to land the Houston Texans quarterback, and Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports that the Dolphins “remain intrigued by the possibility” of trading for Watson. However, Jackson noted that the team is not intrigued with the high price of obtaining Watson, which will reportedly take three first-round picks and two second-round picks.
According to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, the Carolina Panthers and Miami Dolphins are the two finalists for Watson. He also noted that the Denver Broncos and Philadelphia Eagles have been linked to Watson as well.
Watson reportedly requested a trade in January, but things went badly for him in March in April when he was accused of sexual assault or sexual misconduct by multiple women. Twenty-four women have said Watson sexually assaulted or harassed them during massage sessions, and 22 have filed civil lawsuits.
No criminal charges have been filed. The earliest Watson will be deposed in the civil cases is February.
The No. 12 pick in the 2017 draft and has been one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks since entering the league, but his future remains unknown with so many cases against him.
Houston went just 4-12 last season, but Watson completed 70.2 percent of his passes for a league-leading 4,823 yards to go along with 33 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
