A Kansas City, Missouri man is going to pay the ultimate price for having sticky fingers against the Miami Dolphins.
Prosecutors in Jackson County, Mo. charged Joseph Brown Sr. with the theft of approximately $46,000 worth of equipment from the Miami Dolphins in January.
Police reportedly met with a Miami Dolphins representative on January 14th, which was one day after the team lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Wild Card round that took place at Arrowhead Stadium. The authorities were informed that a box truck holding team gear and equipment had been broken into and items were missing, WDAF-TV‘s Brian Dulle reports.
Among the items stolen taken from the Miami Dolphins, per court documents, were:
- Five Pelican cases with media equipment
- Four large aqua-colored equipment cases
- Three large equipment cases
- Football pads
- Gloves
- Shoes
- Cold weather gear
- Hockey bags with “cape” coats inside
- Game film
Detectives subsequently reviewed surveillance video of the alleged theft and were able to identify a vehicle that matched Brown’s gray Ford-150. His vehicle was later found with equipment boxes that matched the description of what went missing from the Miami Dolphins.

When officers approached Brown to speak with him, he quickly sped away.
A search of the house on January 17th revealed so much more as a haul of things was seen that also included Miami Dolphins shoes and other equipment, a large duffel bag with a Dolphins logo with shoes and coats. The dining room and living room contained coats, hats, capes, and Dolphins sweatshirts.
Police charged Joseph Brown Sr. with a class C felony for stealing on Wednesday. He’s facing a $50,000 cash bond.
Miami Dolphins High-Powerd Offense Sputtered During Wild Card Playoff Game
The Miami Dolphins may never want to come to Kansas City again in the winter. The team lost a playoff game in bone-chilling cold on January 13th in the AFC Super Wild Card to the Chiefs. The offense was greatly affected as the team could only muster seven points all game after they came off a regular season where not many teams could stop them.
To make matters worse, they also had $46,000 worth of team gear stolen to further kick them while they were already down.
The team is rebounding nicely from that loss by adding a ton of talent in free agency that should have them in the thick of things to not only try and win the AFC East Division but make a deeper run in the postseason.
