The Kansas City Chiefs are mong teams reported to have serious interest in signing free agent wide receiver Tyler Boyd.
Boyd spent the first eight years of his career with the Cincinnati Bengals but has seen his usage dip considerably over the last few seasons due to the emergence of Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins as prime targets.
According to The Athletic’s Mark Kaboly, the Chiefs are among five teams looking to add Boyd this offseason, with the Miami Dolphins, Los Angeles Chargers, and Detroit Lions all said to have “had preliminary interest” in the wideout while the Pittspburgh Steelers are thought to be a “long shot” in the race.
Higgins has been franchise tagged this year while Chase is eligible for a long-term extension that’s likely to make him one of the highest-paid wide receivers in the NFL, which doesn’t leave the Beangals with much space to sign Boyd to a long-term deal.
While the team still has $23.6 million in cap space, they need to shore up deficiencies on their offensive line and at defensive tackle.

The team which signs Boyd to a deal would have landed a solid WR option. The 29-year-old recorded consecutive 1,000-plus yard seasons in 2018 and 2018 and made 67 catches for a total of 667 yards and two touchdowns in 17 games last season.
The Kansas City Chiefs Could Still Use More Receiving Talent
The Kansas City Chiefs have made an addition to their wide receiving corps this offseason, signing former Arizona Cardinals WR Marquise “Hollywood” Brown.
They also have Rashee Rice, Skyy Moore and Justin Watson under contract, yet Boyd would be considered an upgrade on Watson.’
Rice is also in some legal trouble after reportedly causing a serious car crash in Dallas on Saturday before fleeing the scene.
