Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow stayed in today’s game despite taking multiple hard hits. Once the game was over, it was time to fully tend to his injuries.
The Bengals announced after the game that Burrow was going to a local hospital to be evaluated for a throat contusion. He was having trouble speaking and did not talk to the media following the loss to the Packers.
“Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the Bengals believe Burrow was poked in the throat at some point during the game. The injury didn’t happen when he took a big hit on a running play and slammed his head into the turf.
It’s unknown whether the poke is believed to have happened deliberately.”
It’s unclear at what point Burrow suffered the throat contusion, but he never missed a snap. Cincinnati Bengals wideout Ja’Marr Chase wants to see No. 9 cool it with putting his body at some much risk and slide more.
“He did it late in the game, right? Yeah, he knows how to slide. He’s just hard headed,” Chase said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “I told him don’t scare me like that again. I told him, ‘Slide. You need to start sliding.’”
Burrow completed the game and was 26-of-38 passing for 381 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

It’s only Week 5 of a 17-game season and Burrow only made it into 10 games last year before getting hurt, so he should really listen to Chase.
