Last week, it was reported that Jared Cook was finalizing a deal to become the newest member of the New Orleans Saints, giving QB Drew Brees yet another weapon to work with as he tries to get back to the Super Bowl.
The former Oakland Raiders tight end had some interest in joining the New England Patriots this offseason but the veteran was under the impression that Rob Gronkowski was not going to retire and return to the team, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss.
Cook is definitely not looking to be second fiddle to Gronk, especially when you consider he’s coming off a 2018 campaign where he posted career highs with 68 catches for 896 yards and six touchdowns for the Raiders.
I highly doubt the Patriots are upset with his decision, considering the team is coming off a Super Bowl victory against the Los Angeles Rams. They can wipe their tears with championship rings.
