It was apparently clear throughout the 2018 season that the Jaguars no longer saw Blake Bortles as part of their future. Their plans as of now is to possible pursue a trade for another quarterback who was also demoted during the regular season in 2018.
Jaguars have reportedly discussed the notion of bringing in Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco via trade, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports. That same report stated that Flacco is open to the idea.
Not to mention, the team has other QB’s in mind as well.
The Jaguars have been interviewing candidates for their offensive coordinator job, and have overhauled much of their staff on that side of the ball. In conversations with potential coaches, it has become clear that Blake Bortles is not an option back there next season, and sources said Flacco, Eagles backup Nick Foles and Dolphins oft-injured starter Ryan Tannehill are names the Jaguars brass are mulling.
Flacco, whose contract runs through 2021, is due $18.5M in base salary next season and is set to carry a $26.5M cap number.
As far as Blake Bortles goes, the Jags will likely have to eat a $16.5M dead-money hit.
