The Chicago Bears appear to be set on a decision regarding the first overall pick in April’s 2024 NFL Draft.
Chicago holds the No. 1 pick via the Carolina Panthers, who gave up a 2024 first-rounder to the Bears as part of the trade to take Bryce Young first overall last year. With quarterback Justin Fields coming off his best season yet, many wonder if the Bears may look to build around the Ohio State QB and trade the top selection.
But according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, it appears as though the Bears are leaning towards keeping the top pick and using it on USC’S Caleb Williams:
“Teams are starting to line up the imaginary dominoes, trying to forecast how the top of the draft will shake out. Most people I talked to in Mobile expect the Chicago Bears to make the pick at No. 1, presumably for Williams.”
Williams is the consensus pick to go first overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, with North Carolina QB Drake Maye, LSU QB Jayden Daniels and Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. widely projected to round out the top four.
In his final year of college football, Williams completed 68.6 percent of pass attempts and threw for 3,633 yards and 30 touchdowns.
