New details have emerged on Dak Prescott’s injury after the Dallas Cowboys quarterback was spotted in a walking boot.
Concerns quickly mounted among Dallas fans after Dak Prescott was seen wearing a walking boot in public. The boot was on the right Ankle, which Prescott fractured back in the 2020 season.
But according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Prescott is only working through “a very minor foot sprain.” The injury has lasted a few days now, but Rapoport added that it shouldn’t “affect his preparation for 2024.”
The soon-to-be 31-year-old Dak Prescott is entering the last season of a four-year deal worth $160 million he signed in the 2021 offseason. Surprisingly, the Cowboys have yet to finalize a long-term extension with their franchise QB.

Not only that, but the Cowboys have yet to extend wide receiver CeeDee Lamb (one year remaining on his rookie deal) and linebacker Micah Parsons, who’s eligible for a contract extension.
Dallas owner Jerry Jones stated back in January that his team would have an “all-in”approach to the 2024 offseason. So far, however, the cowboys haven’t made a single blockbuster trade or notable free agent signing.
The Cowboys will open their 2024 season with a road contest against Myles Garrett and the Cleveland Browns on Sept. 8. That game will also mark Tom Brady’s debut as an NFL analyst for FOX.
Dak Prescott Is Coming Off a Career Year
The three-time Pro Bowler posted his best statistical season in 2023, completing a league-leading 410 passes (a 69.5 completion percentage) for 4,516 yards, 36 touchdowns (also tops in the league) and only nine interceptions.
Of course, that was all for naught as the Cowboys endured another humiliating postseason defeat, having lost to the Green Bay Packers 48-32 in the Wild Card Round. So it’ll be interesting to see how Prescott and company rebound in a year where many jobs could be on the line in Big D.
