The Houston Texans are simply going through absolute hell that started with blwoing a 24-0 lead to the Chiefs to the Kansas City Chiefs and then allowing now-fired head coach Bill O’Brien to trade WR DeAndre Hopkins.
Things only appear to be getting worse in 2021.
On Thursday, ProFootballTalk reported that there was a ‘growing buzz’ that QB Deshaun Watson could demand a trade.
“Rumors already are circulating, and we’ve already heard them from multiple different people, that Watson has quietly broached with teammates the possibility of requesting a trade.
If that’s happening, it may just be a strategic effort to ensure his views are respected by ownership. Regardless, it raises the stakes and crosses a bridge and potentially sets the foundation for Watson eventually to decide that he’d like to continue his career elsewhere.”
The report goes on to say that trading Watson would result in a cap charge of $21.6 million, but the haul of draft picks would generate would more than justify it.
Deshaun Watson led the NFL with 4,823 yards passing this season and threw 33 touchdowns to only seven interceptions. He earned his third Pro Bowl selection with the best statistical campaign of his career.
